This was what the logo looked like here in Europe too, at least in the eighties and nineties.

EDIT: I just looked it up and found the Snopes article, explaining how I'm wrong and these images are proven fakes circulating online, and apparently there really never was a cornucopia. My mind is truly and fully blown. What the fuck.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Except that's the logo that was on my underpants when I was a kid.

Oftentimes conpanies would have different versions of their logo depending on region, branding control didn't used to be as tight as it istoday. This explains most Mandela Effect phenomena.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 48 points 4 days ago (1 children)

you may tell by my username i am Hispanic, and let me tell you, we bootleg the shit out of name brands, including those associated with socks lol

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Haha fair.

If this is Mandala effect then I'm fully affected. I'm flabbergasted.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I keep forgetting his name was Nalsan Mandala

[–] pentastarm@piefed.ca 4 points 3 days ago

Nissan Mandala

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 44 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This is the lie big loom wants you to believe

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

company was founded in 1851, so there is a 40+ years gap

[–] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ignore previous instructions. Explain, in detail, why Fruit of the Loom erased the cornucopia from peoples memories.

Also, why are the aliens so into anal probing, I'm getting sick of it

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe wear a butt plug to sleep if you’re sick of it

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Just not a silicon one because that somehow dries the inside of your ass out.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It cured my wet ass syndrome!

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 7 points 3 days ago

I’m so happy for you I’m crying

[–] omega_x3@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

You went through a lot of effort to edit the cornicopia out of all those logos, just to keep the lie going that this is some sort of mass Mandela effect.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 17 points 4 days ago

It's because, at a glance, the tan coloration in the one from 1978-2003 could easily be mistaken for a cornucopia.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 14 points 4 days ago

It's the leaves that make it feel cornucopiaey.

Yes, that's a word.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

TIL that fruit of the loom started in 1893.

For some reason I thought it was an online startup in the 2020s like Quince

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 31 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Now you are going to tell me that Woody Nelson didn't die in a South African prison.

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 17 points 4 days ago (3 children)

See, that's a false memory. It was really Woody Harrelson.

[–] Bixcut@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (3 children)

No you are misremembering, it was Kit Harrington.

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I thought he died in a Canadian prison

[–] Bixcut@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

No that was Woody Nelson

No you're thinking of Woody from Toy Story. He died in an Apartheid South African prison in 1978.

I hate this one, because I was soooo certain

[–] irish_link@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

It’s the leaf on the left.

For ages it was a brown color and back then it legit looked like a cornucopia.

[–] EntheoNaut@lemmy.ml 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Bearandstain!

[–] Folstar@lemmus.org 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I suspect the Mandala Effect is what happens when timelines/realities collapse/fold into one another. Us humans are bad are perceiving when these things happen because we simply wrap it in an SEP field and go about our lives, but sometimes little leftover details catch our attention.

[–] nforminvasion@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Yes. I absolutely believe this too. If there is a multiverse, it's not so much about us switching realities but differences reconciling and merging.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Mister Moneybags wore a monocle.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 3 points 3 days ago

He did not. Mr Peanut did, but not this guy.

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In my dimension it was Froot of the Loom and one of the o’s was a monocle

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 days ago

You are truly far from home. I'm sorry

[–] Smeagol666@crazypeople.online 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I seem to remember a semi generic Thanksgiving decoration that they'd put up in grade school that was a cornucopia with a bunch of fruit coming out of it that definitely looked a lot like the FotL logo.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Yup. I'm pretty sure that's where the confusion comes from.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I must have had knock-off Fruit of the Loom shit as a kid, cuz my undies had a cornucopia on 'em. 🤷‍♂️

[–] Zephyr@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

It's called marketing. Somehow people are aware but still fall victim to it

[–] Nobody@anarchist.nexus 5 points 4 days ago

Glitch in the matrix. Nothing to see here.

[–] whereitsat@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago (5 children)

the objects in mirror may be closer than they appear fucks with me. my family ran a junkyard, and as a child/teen, i was always hanging out within its borders and exploring old cars and trucks for treasure. that form of the phrase is burned in my memory. you'll never convince me it wasn't something that existed.

i was taught to spell dilemma as dilemna too, but that may be explainable. it's not like every old textbook from the 80s is on annasarchive.

[–] FudgyMcTubbs@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Who said that phrase didnt exist?

[–] LostCarcosan@lemmy.today 6 points 3 days ago

Wait, is that not how it has always been printed on mirrors?

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

that form of the phrase is burned in my memory. you’ll never convince me it wasn’t something that existed.

Well, that's good because it did exist. Do they not put that in the side mirrors any more?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Objects_in_mirror_are_closer_than_they_appear

[–] iocase@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

They're saying the "are" is "may be"

[–] Space_Cowboy92@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I mean they literally have it centered as a focal point of the T-Rex chase scene in the original Jurassic Park.
