Pretty sure Linux is cheaper...

Except they own those books only because they locked out regular people who want them and used insane amounts of capital they've stolen from said people to buy everything up.

This isn't a guy deciding to toss his copy of a book. This is a company who has destroyed industries and the environment and used basically slave labor forcing people to pee in bottles to meet insane requirements all to hoard wealth that they used to hoard more things.

Condensing it to"book owner does what they want with books they own" ignores so many historic and systemic problems that led to this.

You'd be correct. Recent estimates are that climate change caused issues will reduce global income by about 15% and cost $40 trillion annually by 2050.

They'd make more money by tackling climate change. It's in the math. But that math has to be done over multiple years not just next quarter as you said.

If you just ignore the MCU movies...

They're absolutely being "fixed" with AI too.

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/process/coding-assistants.rst

It was a whole thing back and forth that Linus finally ruled on. It's supposed to be under the purview of a specific human ultimately but as we've seen with countless other projects people get lazy fast with LLMs and testing and review does slip. I trust Linux overall to be better than many other projects yes, but to state AI is not doing development too when it's very much allowed and discussed is blind to what's been happening in the project.

The same way Windows is "fixing bugs" with AI? Large volumes of dubiously tested code is never a good idea

She clearly hasn't watched "Across the Spiderverse" then

Normalized here means inflation adjusted. They're saying RAM hasn't been this expensive in a very long time

To the average person (and this includes politicians, basically anyone not a software engineer developing the tools )who Cory generally writes to try and inform, they are the same.

Should they be? No. But that's a whole different thing and trying to change that in the general public mind doesn't change his current point about AI as the public thinks of it right now.
