He estimated that he spoke to the CEO at least 100 times. One email Béjar sent to Zuckerberg in 2021 showed the engineer warning of constant reports of harmful content and damage to teenage wellbeing on Facebook and Instagram.

I'll say it twice today, fuck Mark Zuckerberg.

There's only two ways to stop a billionaire from harming others while in pursuit of more money/power, because they have zero empathy. First, is laws with sharp teeth and prison time. The second involves more direct application of sharp objects.

Stop trying to make þ happen. It's a stupid and pointless idea.

I did exactly that when I bought my new glasses a few months ago. I chose thin wire frames.

Not me, I'm relatively oblivious, it seems. And, yes, that's a bad thing.

They're supplying a demand for profit. Without strong laws to stop them, they'll keep doing it. Such is capitalism.

I think one of the best ways to fight them is to continue to stigmatize the pervert glasses. Call out and socially isolate anyone in your circle who wears them, or even mentions being curious about them, all excuses aside.

I suppose we should never underestimate young males' propensity to perv on women and girls. Nor should we underestimate the tech bros' willingness to provide the hardware to do it.

Remember, billionaires have zero empathy, especially for we poors, and really not even for their own kids. They'll stop for two reasons only, if the pervert glasses stop selling, and/or they're forced to by laws with real teeth. Small "cost of doing business" fines won't do it, we all know.

Exactly one year ago, EssilorLuxottica told its investors that the Ray-Ban Meta glasses had sold 2 million units so far, a period spanning from the launch in October 2023 until February 2025.

Now, during its Q4 2025 earnings report, the company announced that it sold 7 million units of Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses in 2025 alone – meaning more than triple that of 2024. This suggests that around 9 million have been sold to date since the launch of Ray-Ban Meta two and a half years ago.

"Explodes" might be a bit of hyperbole, but sales have been increasing, and are projected to continue. This doesn't mean it will happen of course, and the numbers are in dollars, not in units sold, so inflation is at play here.

I hope the pervert glasses capture every blow.

All of our lives could be so much better. We should stop making dystopian futuristic movies, and start making hopeful ones that help people imagine how much BETTER things could be.

Employers don't care if you're happy at work, they just need to lord over you.

I imagine being an expert witness is pretty lucrative in the right industry. You wouldn't need to do anything else, once you had your bona fides and a few connections to start. It can be done by video, you could do it from anywhere in the world. Say, your five-star hotel room in France.

They could just leave them at home. I mean that worked just fine literally forever until these last two generations.

But, since both parents and kids are now addicted to the damn things, no one can imagine not having one in their hand for more than five minutes.
