I have two different PINs I use for different debit cards. One of those is also my phone PIN, the other is my Duress PIN.

It would be really easy for to forget which is which when in a stressful situation.

As long as they still have someone verifying and correcting mistakes, that's a decent solution. It doesn't need to be complicated. Whisper is by no means perfect, but from my experience it handles 90% fine, only having to listen and correct 10% is a huge improvement over transcribing everything manually.

The issues with so much of the current AI use is implementations that completely remove trained human oversight from the equation because the AI companies position it as a complete replacement for employees.

Exactly. It is a tool for professionals to use to speed up existing processes. It is not a replacement for people, regardless of what the marketers tell you so you buy their product. I don't understand how there aren't thousands of lawsuits against these AI companies for their blatantly false advertising.

AI keeps proving this day by day when people try to make it a replacement and have it blow up in their faces every day.

It's possible they actually did want to retire, but if that's the case they almost always pick a successor that will continue along the same path.

Most of the time you see a CEO "retire", they're being forced out by the board and paid off with a golden parachute to not make waves on the way out. And the next CEO is installed to make whatever changes the board wants implemented that the previous CEO refused to do.

I've always had that same experience with Ace in my area. The people there actually know their departments and can help with relevant questions. I try to go there whenever possible over Home Depot or Lowe's because of it.

In this case Best Buy is simply acting as a marketplace for other sellers. The items aren't sold under the Best Buy name, and it lists who the seller is. They're sold on the Best Buy website, alongside thousands of other sellers and Best Buy directly, just like many other retailers do. Companies like eBay, Amazon, Walmart, etc. all operate marketplace storefronts that third parties use to sell to consumers without having to have their own website and sales infrastructure.

Even if they do, they will now claim they don't have stock to replace and will refund you the original purchase price. Which is usually 25% of the current cost to replace it now.

Quite a few posts around online in recent months of this being the exact playbook they're going by now.

A lot of the time the third party parts are made in the same factory on the same lines. Often their contracts are for X amount of product and Y quality. Only when you get to massive companies and products like Apple and the iPhone do you actually get third party factories producing copied parts.

Most are just the same factories producing extra product by running the lines for extra hours, at a faster speed, etc. and taking both the extra product and the product that barely failed the quality control for some reason but can be sold as B stock on the grey market. A lot of "counterfeit" products are legitimate in every way, just not authorized by the manufacturer.
