This plane can fit 50 men!

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 45 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Oh come on, they aren't all like that.

This one is great for those who want to smell farts blasted right into their faces.

concept for airlines that's very cramped and ass to mouth

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That feels so claustrophobic for the poor belowdecks person. You think they do seating based on phobia for this shit? You know, make the experience of flying just a tiny bit more miserable with bodily dread and stuff?

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Mmm directly at fart level

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Accessibility also loves it!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

at this point, why not just have sliding racks of jump seats

[–] Sibshops@lemmy.myserv.one 22 points 3 weeks ago

Have you tried not being so tall? /s

[–] CyberEgg@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

Not just airlines (or rather plane manufacturers) but bus and train manufacturers, too. And car makers when it comes to the back seats. Basically any company producing means of multi-person transportation.

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Not just airlines (or rather plane manufacturers)

Distance between seats is determined by the airline, not the plane manufacturers. The seats mount on rails and are easily moved around by the airlines to optimize amount of possible seats.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago

Which is also why the windows never fucking line up.

[–] Psionicsickness@reddthat.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

I have a Mustang, it’s a convertible. I’d honestly rather NOT have the back seats. They are useless anyway, I’d rather just have a 2 seater sports car.

[–] Iamsqueegee@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 weeks ago

Tojo took m’leg room!

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is that a couple of floating scrotums?

[–] Kcap@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If only there was someone who could trace those dicks

[–] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If it was really down to airlines they'd design airplanes for sardines...

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

They would make us stand up, that would allow them to fit so many more people.

WestJet says feedback and operational data about the scaled-back 28-inch seat pitch, which reduced legroom, prompted the airline to change its “cabin-configuration approach” on aircraft where seating had been “densified.”

Aahhh, who doesn't love some corpo speak

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I physically don't fit in a 30" seat pitch, that sounds like hell

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago

You have to be this small to ride this plane

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm 5ft 2 and I feel like I barely fit in an airplane seat. And God forbid I have to use the restroom during the flight.

Restrooms smaller than portable Scotty potties.

I'm not someone who has claustrophobia but I'll be real. Those restrooms feel like a coffin. And being on a flight longer 2 hours is a test of my mental fortitude.

I've been on an airplane a few times for about 9 hours and I honestly felt slightly traumatized by the experience.

Id love to travel to farther places but I don't think I can handle those 13 hr flights.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 weeks ago

All so rich people can rent entire apartments in the sky. Their seats get bigger while ours get smaller, doubly so for bathrooms.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 6 points 3 weeks ago

The front view needs to be 1 plastic school ruler wide with no curves. And no arms.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago

I rode fiddy planes

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

“You’re not mah daddy, a’hm your daddy!”

[–] stepan@lemmy.cafe 5 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

two hour flight to London with RyanAir was an absolute nightmare for me, and i'm ~196 cm which isn't even that tall.

it really sucks that my options are either to suffer or to pay more.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Where the hell are you from where 196 cm isn't tall? We're the same height and I loom over nearly everyone I meet like a fucking giant.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Netherlands probably. 180 cm is the average for a man there.

[–] feannag@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

16 cm is a pretty big difference. Thats almost 10% and surely more than a standard deviation above.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

That's being bigger, not looming over everyone. Find yourself in a group of Asian tourists who are often not even chest height for some good looming.

[–] mholiv@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Northern Germany, Netherlands, Denmark. I felt I was tall before moving to the area. Now I feel just below average.

From the Czech Republic. I mean, I am tall, but I still know like three people taller than me.

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 8 points 3 weeks ago

195cm is definitely tall! At 200cm, I can literally no longer fly unless I save up for business class. My legs simply do not fit into a coach seat. Coach hurts. I would have to be a contortionist to attempt coach.

[–] psilotop@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I think the worldwide average for men is something like 172-175cm so you are definitely tall. That said, it's still abhorrent that some people are not allowed to fly remotely comfortably because of a handful of their genes.

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Easily fixed by not using those scummy twats Ryanair...

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Having no moral WRT your travel choice can hurt, I don't feel sorry for you.

[–] stepan@lemmy.cafe 1 points 3 weeks ago

fair, but it was never my choice, i'm a student and the only times i traveled by plane were with someone who paid for me and decided what to use.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Once upon a time, KLM was fined for providing too little legroom. Good times...

[–] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I am not that tall, but tall enough that my knee hits the plastic protection piece on the front seat, it is not fun.

[–] tenchiken@anarchist.nexus 4 points 3 weeks ago

Replace the guy with just moneybags on their way to get emptied.

I don't think he got it. LOL.

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Haha I don't think so.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

Last time I flew on a plane the armrest from the seat in front of me actually cut my knee there was so little room. My only other option was to get my leg run over by the drink cart.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

It's actually 🐄
