It sucks for everyone but the people in charge are too stupid or apathetic to change anything.

I applied to an internal role like 2 months ago and they're just ghosting me. Like, I see them on teams. I send them follow up messages. Nothing. Bunch of AI brained assholes.

They're not trying to make a good product. They're trying to get their short term gains.

Normal capitalist bullshit where a handful of people (who probably don't even do any work) make decisions and keep almost all the profits.

The majority of the time you just click play in steam, heroic, or whatever. It's no worse than windows.

I don't do any tinkering on my desktop.

I remember once on a forum a big cis het guy was saying that he's never seen cat calling on the street. Never him, and never at any of his friends. Someone pointed out that since he's a big dude, he's probably not going to be catcalled, and other shitty dudes are likely not going to bother people near him because of patriarchy.

To everyone's surprise, he came back and was like "ok that makes sense. And I asked my women friends and they told me a lot of stories"

Rare to see someone change their mind like that.

I thought the conservative stance was that there’s no systemic racism.

I mean, there's no limit to how stupid people can be. But I think a lot of conservatives like to say that the racism of the past doesn't matter anymore. That a family that was enslaved 160 years ago (just beyond living memory now, but potentially someone's great-great-grandparent), and then subject to Jim Crow and other cruelties through... generously the 1960s but realistically the 1980s, that family has no long lasting effects.

But really it's important to remember that conservatives just say things. They don't care about facts or truth. They care about power, and their emotions. So even if you proved that racism was systemic and had measurable effects (eg: The Color of Law), it won't matter. They don't care about facts. They care about feelings.

This is funny because many conservatives say things like "facts don't care about your feelings", but it's well known that conservatives project more than movie theaters.

A lot of people died to get the pittances we got from the ownership class. Decades of

• labor: we want to paid in real money, and work less than 12 hours a day 6 days a week
• owner: no
• labor: then we're going on strike
• owner, to the state: HELP
• the state: sends police and troops to do violence to labor

The idea that peacefully asking for stuff on its own is effective is largely ahistorical. A happy myth sold by the people who would be receiving violence.

Conservatives will say anything to align with the in-group, to hurt the outgroup, or for personal power. They have no internal beliefs beyond those.

Rather, it’s the presence of a competitive market.

Competitive markets are hated by private business owners

Management are assholes and idiots.

Nothing will get better without demands. People need to organize.

But if I've learned anything from history, it's that the ownership class would rather murder all of their employees than give a few dollars more a day.
