Always have been. Orin nano/nx SoMs are in all sorts of weapons systems. NixOS had a whole community civil war because Anduril heavily adopted NixOS and integrated it with Jetpack, the BSP that these run. They're kind of a PITA to use (fuck you WayneWWW...IYKYK) but they're easily the highest performance SoM of that size and the power consumption is workable for these kinds of...short lived systems. I think they started out targeting automotive applications and never really took off in the commercial world despite being comparable to Apple silicon in performance because they have no power saving modes. They ended up being perfect for doing real time object detection from a MIPI camera though so now they're the gold standard for bleeding edge slaughterbots.
Before the Orin, a lot of more experimental systems were using the TX2i and Xavier modules, but they had much less computing power and the image recognition models weren't as capable anyway.

Interesting, thanks. I've seen NixOS requirements in german military projects. And it is very interesting looking at western downed drone teardowns in the Ukraine. I kept looking for NVidia logo there.
Nvidia doesn't really put a big logo on anything, but if you know the shape of the modules they're easy to spot.
All of the tech giants discovered that there is much more money to be made making tech for dystopian authoritarian governments than gamers. It was inevitable I guess.

Linux devs usually don't make a business out of it though. That's the thing about FOSS: you do not have much control over what people do with it.

That's the thing about FOSS licensing, at least legally. Depending on which one you choose it controls what people do with it quite a lot.
About licensing:
Yes and no. Plenty of people or companies just don't care and it can be hard to prove otherwise. And in the context of military software, well... I doubt russian software devs are even allowed to publish anything related, despite the respective FOSS possibly requiring it.

Apple once advertised their new PowerMac G4 was so powerful it was classified as a munition and hence illegal to export. (this was stretching the truth a bit as the regulation allowing export of over 1 gigaflops machines had already passed)
Encryption used to be considered a controlled munition by the US.
