I have seen some videos of intruders breaking in, or baby sitter abusing kids, and their cat straight go blender mode and fuck them up. Not saying it's as reliable as a dog guarding, but I have seen quite a few instances of cats fucking people up for doing wrong.
Also seen videos of dogs just being excited about a person being there. As with everything else it's not a black and white thing.
My brother drove into town at 3am the year I got my dog, I left the door unlocked for him. In the morning I found my dog asleep on him. Yeah, hell of a guard dog.
While my dog barks at my vehicle when I get a new one. 🙄
Saw a video of a caretaker for cats get bit in the ass cheek while placing food bowls.

cat bites and scratches are also more dangerous, because they nasty bacteria that gives very dangerous infections. dogs, not so much even if they bite.
The difference is significant but not enormous. Something like 15% of dog bites and 40% of cat bites become infected. Also almost all rabies infections are from dog bites, so the idea that "cat bites are more dangerous" is pretty misleading. I think most cat bite infections result in a mild bacterial infection that clears in a week or two.
