Oh good, it wasn't just me.

Please don't give them ideas. Fido's one thing, but at least that's a sentient being that can feel pain. Officer Clanker, I hope to god, Satan, the FSM, Jibbers Crabst and whatever other deity may listen, is many many decades away.

If they start declaring inanimate fucking objects or robots to be police officers, all it will mean is that the penalty for vandalism and cop killing is the same... so you might as well earn it.

Claude has on two occasions ended our conversation because I kept referring to it as a useless piece of shit.

the fact this is even a thing, that a glorified autocorrect has the gall, the temerity to pretend it has hurt feelings, is one of the reasons I feel more and more like fucking off into the wilderness and living like Ted Kaczynski.

oh, but we won't charge you until your 30 days is up, you can just cancel before then!*

*please forget please forget please let us charge you when you least expect it oh god please forget about us you fucking stupid forgetful dope

-- how I interpret "free trials" that work like this. You can terminate my service when my trial is up, you do not need my credit card information until I've actually agreed to purchase the service. There is literally no practical reason they can't just do that instead -- except, of course, that it makes them more money off of forgotten trial subscriptions.

a box in the ground would also be acceptable, I think.

See for me it's been therapists thinking that if I just got a job, I'd stop being depressed (this was in the wake of being canned for a bullshit reason after a long absence due to cancer -- I'm better now, at least in terms of cancer). This is to say nothing of the fact that the things I was upset and complained about were not at all pertinent to a job search (mostly relationships, loneliness, fear over the fascist takeover, etc).

Multiple different therapists came to this same conclusion, and you know what? I have a part time job now! And it didn't cure my depression at all! Fancy that -- contributing to the Trump economy has not made me meaningfully happier, or even meaningfully less poor/more able to afford things I'd enjoy! wow! who'd have guessed.

I am somewhat increasingly convinced that professional therapists (or at least the ones my insurance covers) are just bullshitters that have turned bullshit into a career, like chiropractors. Maybe there are some that aren't, but I'd rather have a psychiatrist, at least they've actually got some means of fucking doing something (even if that something is just throwing SSRIs at the wall and seeing what sticks -- so far, nothing has, but I could be proven wrong any day now!).

I imagine the best duress PIN is something you'd actually see a "normal" person set as a PIN, like their birth year or something innocuous and easy to remember (and easily believed by whoever's demanding your PIN), while their real PIN would be longer or more abstract.

meanwhile, what REISUB feels like:

God, it's like the "truck driving at bollard" gif but for tyrannical asshats, all I want is the payoff and it never comes. Just like real life!

so this website is complete dogshit and continually reloads the page for me on Firefox on android, having something of a small fit; and it seems to be paywalled anyways as a subscription nag did partially load at one point; but what I can see from the article is this hilarious subtitle/header:

The stock market selloff this week has been painful for investors, but spare a thought for Elon Musk.

Unless that thought is to laugh. And the investors can get bent, too.
