I swear this is the real reason AI companies are concerned about watermarking - not for the public good, but so they can keep their model training inputs clean.

Reminds me of Sam Altman saying he uses AI to make a podcast about his kids sports game so they can listen to it on the way to school. As if talking to your children wasn't an option.
All these tech bros creating solutions in search of a problem.
For real? That is some dystopian Minority Report level advertising right there.
This is what pisses me off the most - they committed PS5 to physical media the second they made a disc edition. Any reasonable customer would interpret that as discs being a viable format for the lifetime of the console. If they were making a call for PS6 and beyond I'd understand, but they took our money for the disc edition, then reneged on their commitment to it. There's a class action lawsuit here for sure.
The other problem is bandwidth. Even if you can run Kimi K3 locally, AI usage patterns tend to be very bursty. Having the scalability of cloud compute to run multiple agents and sessions at once makes it much more usable.

Weapons of Math Destruction. A good read about algorithmic discrimination, this is more of the same.
I would have understood them making this call for PS6 onwards - digital edition only. But while they're still selling disc PS5s at eye-watering prices? What the fuck are they thinking? Way to burn good will with your ever-shrinking fanbase.
And we're about to watch Anthropic go through the same thing with their IPO. Late-stage capitalism sucks.
