I just feel differently. Another poster mentioned bathrooms though and that’s a very good point. If I ever did have a camera that recorded stuff I see locally like a dashcam, I’d take it off, turn it off, and put it in my bag before I entered a private-public space like that.
That’s a very good point—if I went into a public restroom, I’d take camera glasses off and put them in my bag for sure.
Nobody has any control over where dashcam videos go, or where videos we take with our phones go… but those are okay. If I put my phone on an armband or a shirt pocket and record, isn’t that basically the same thing as having camera glasses?
I’m fine with someone recording with a camera in public, that’s all cool. But I don’t wanna be anywhere near anything connected to Facebook. I don’t want my pictures there, or my words, or anything to do with me.
I would LOVE to have a nice pair of camera glasses. I love my dashcam, I’m so excited when something crazy happens (that doesn’t involve me) so I can save the video to show to my partner. I’d loooove that while just walking around.
No fucking chance I want that device to have Internet access, absolutely not. I specifically got the best dashcam I could that has NO Bluetooth or WiFi capabilities, local storage only.
I fully see the value in having a hands-free camera while I’m walking around, exploring, people-watching, etc. but anything that I don’t have the control of where the data all goes is incredibly not bueno.
Hard drives have gone up, but far from tripled.
Solid state drives have about doubled, tripled if you’re looking for new high end Samsung drives.
RAM was hit the hardest.
Android is MUCH more flexible, hella agree hahaha. I started with the first Android device, the Dream, and installed uhhhh… Cyanogen? Or that’s the PSP… I forgor @w@
But I did CFW with my Android devices and looooved it. I switched to iPhone after my partner got an iPhone when they couldn’t get an Android phone with a keyboard. Loved it. Big complaint: no adblocker on the 4s. Keyboard was good though!
Focus came out I thiiiink during the iPhone 8? Maybe before, but I’ve been using it for very long. I’ve never had a YouTube account and would never use it if I had to see ads—I vehemently hate ads. But I’ve been seeing vids for the better part of a decade now! If ad blocking stops working, I’ll 100% never visit again. It’s completely untenable.

Hell yeah, saaaame. I do now upload super important stuff in already-encrypted bundles to vetted, trustable, e2e online storage services just in case. But everything else is local server, externals, and discs I need to put on those hard drives now that disc rot is starting to be a thing.
The advertising is really gross, and so is the required account, one drive on by default, all of it is gross. Someone posted a link to a Nexus interview I’m watching now where folks who have windows installed with a Microsoft account have had their account hax’d and bitlocker enabled on their machine (in all of its backdoored “security” glory) and a pin put on their machine from a threat actor. Insanity! Ain’t no way I’m goin near that
You can without being logged in, but not old reddit. If you’re getting the “join the most alive place on the net” (lol) popup, ublock has optional anti-annoyance filters that fix it.
