It'll be like a vacation, working takes far more of my time and energy than studying.
You can afford not to work during the school year?!
Thankfully the university costs me a whopping ~150€ a year, and I get some money from the government while studying.
That's awesome good for you! I'm in the USA, I had a full tuition scholarship but still had to pirate/ buy textbooks, and as a commuter had to keep up with my car and feed myself. Wasn't terribly fun doing college + 25 hours a week of work and still being broke and never having free time but I got it done without burying myself in hundreds of thousands of debt like some of my friends that just took loans out for education.
I'm very glad of the system here. Education is free, I only have to pay the student union member fee and student healthcare fee. I get left with 66€ a month from the support money after rent, living 1.5km from school. Also a tram goes straight to the city center from in front of my building when I want to go there.

I always thought lemmy was a bit older in terms of demographics of users. kids being here is weird to me considering how much 18+ stuff there is here.
Well I'm 17 and I have nsfw disabled for me, so yeah :\
Im twice your age and I also would likw nsfw disabled. How do you do it? I've gone by by staying in subscribed feed as much as possible and blocking all nsfw communities I see when I auromatically end up in all.
OK, first click on the user thing on top of the webpage, go to settings, and make sure u hav "show nsfw content" disabled. hope this helps! ;D
From the web client, go to the triple line menu in the top right, then click your username, then settings, then scroll about 2/3 down and uncheck "show NSFW content"
For mobile clients the setting location varies, but its usually somewhere near blocking and filtering settings.
even with nsfw disabled people often discuss nsfw stuff in sfw comment sections

As a child, school starting always sucked for me. I was always outside in the woods, or fishing, riding my bike, making forts, listening to or making music, collecting bugs, getting purposefully drenched in pop thunderstorms. The last thing I wanted was to be back in school chained to a desk.

Yeah, you might want to pay a little more attention in English class.

Honestly the worst thing about school was always that it started so goddamn early. No human being is ready for the world at 7:30am. Children, less so.
I want the mandatory BS parts of life to start early so I have more afternoon to myself.

Rough home life?
Not rlly tbh but I don't think there's much to do during summer break. lk yeah, i've got the internet, and outside time, and all that other nice stuff. but there are a lot of things I want to do during summer break, i.e. go on car rides, travel the U.S., etc. but unfortunately we dont hav the money for that so ig those r the only options 4me until summer break ends '(:T)/'
why not engage in some free/cheap hobbies?

Without wanting to sound like some edge-of-civilisation Huckleberry Finn-type motherfucker the only thing I really hated in fall/autumn was putting on socks again and wearing a top-button collar after a feral summer.
I didn’t really mind the back to school bit ending my holidays - but wearing uniform as a kid sucked.

I don't work in an office (not yet anyway) my dad does, so I rlly dont think working at an office has summer breaks smh :\
I miss the days when I missed school during the summer.
