I use a free outbound smtp relay that lets me do like 5k emails on the free tier. I use it primarily for alerts and Immich updates / new user links. But I don't do inbound so don't have to expose any ports. Only time I did was to do validation with the relay so just a few minutes during setup.

Wonder if this will impact my searxng install.
Then look at it again in a year and go, "Who wrote this?!" Do a git blame then go, "Oh, why did I do this?"
And to me the least fun. Programming is the fun part, everything else is stuff I have to deal with to do the fun part.
For me it was trying to interpret vague business requirements. But I was a designer / coder. I tried to insulate the other programmers from that nonsense.
Just get two dish washers. Take the clean dishes out of one to use, then put them in the other when done. When full wash, then repeat.

It's not 100% new. I mean people would pay to see a movie just to watch a trailer and leave.
Yeah, I'd consider myself a bit of a tech enthusiast but I'd never buy a closed source product like smart glasses. I have looked a little into Mentra glasses as it's open source and it looks like you might be able to stand up your own backend.
It would in no way be an everyday wear for me though. I'd probably only ever wear it for outdoor activities. But honestly a GoPro or equivalent with a harness would probably be a better option for that.

Another is most ISPs will put your IP in the PBL so unless you use a relay your outbound email is going nowhere. Google fiber was slow on updating their PBL when they rolled out service in my area so I got to send direct for several months before having to use an external relay.
