MODERATORS

https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/grokipedia-stopped-reviewing-edits-in-april.-it-didn-t-tell-anyone

Altogether, what we found was that the “live” change feed is gone, past decisions were retroactively reverted without explanation, new decisions are not being issued, and article text appears frozen (and, in some cases, outdated). We do not know whether xAI is preparing a major revision or has altogether abandoned active development of the project.

What the hallucinated bullshit fuck is grokipedoa?

[–] antonim@lemmy.world 45 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Elon Musk's AI-generated alternative to Wikipedia, lol

[–] fprefect@lemmy.ml 55 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That also contains a lot of text copied directly from Wikipedia.

It is just another of Elons pet-projects driven by hate.

If you copy and paste it, it's a copyright violation. If you have AI do it, it's generated.

Sounds like a hilarious read, like that Reddit for bots thing Moltbook

Actually it wasn't hilarious, it was extremely boring. I looked up a game I played recently Quasimorph and it just yaps on and on for fucking ever. There is no way to verify accuracy because no human could ever possibly read 36 paragraphs of pointless meandering waffle, without even any maple syrup

Musk's alternate reality.

Grokipedoa is probably just grok itself.

Just imagine being so stupid and trying to contribute to fucking Grokipedia

Wikipedia is out there and it's really easy to contribute if you're not an idiot and read the sensible editing rules beforehand.

Anyone volunteering to give free labor to one of Muk's vanity projects to undermine modern society is probably helping most by not trying to contribute to Wikipedia.

But Wikipedia is liberal, antifa, communism propaganda! Save the children!

I went on Grokipedia once, months after launch out of curiosity. I found an error in the first article I looked at (the city that I live in). It was in the first sentence of the first paragraph of the History section.

It conflated erroneously King William the Lion of Alba and King William the Conqueror of England. They weren't even alive in the same century.

I can absolutely follow the logic of how Grok would make the error. Both Kings, both William, both the first of their name in their respective kingdoms, both notable and significant in their own right, but definitely not the same person.

Hence the meme...

It would be terrible if someone abused this lack of moderation to fill grockipedia with accurate information

Crockipedia

Just copy and paste wikipedia articles back into Grokipedia

FFS, stop anthropomorphizing the robots.

The timing is suspiciously close to the Anthropic's deal that allowed it to use xAI's datacenters at a reduced cost. Now we know what was killed to make the room.
