Whoever did it was having pizza and playing Mario kart with me at my apartment

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait......you had a party and didn't invite me????

Rude.

I’m sorry buddy I’ll definitely hit you up next time we get together to definitely not cut down Flock cameras ❤️

[–] GalacticSushi@piefed.blahaj.zone 62 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure Flock cameras just... Do that sometimes. Nothing to look into, just a simple design flaw is all.

[–] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes, it's a natural part of their life cycle

[–] AnotherHelldiver@jlai.lu 1 points 2 weeks ago

I read this with David Attenborough's voice.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 56 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Correction: No they fucking didn't.

And if you think you saw someone doing this, no the fuck you didn't.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I also believe this is just a series of fortuitous accidents.

[–] AnotherHelldiver@jlai.lu 1 points 2 weeks ago

Happy little accidents like Bob Ross would say.

[–] webp@mander.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I saw an epic hero doing this. Could've been hercules

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hercules was with me all night. We were doing competitive pushups.

He won. Because he's awesome, and he can balance a spoon on his nose, and he tore down soooooo many flock cameras.......I mean........no, not that last one. I don't know why I said that. He was with me all night in the garage doing push-ups.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Unless by Hercules you mean Kevin Sorbo in which case, yeah, it was him alright.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

.......not sure who that is, and I'm unsure why you'd throw him under the bus for stealing flock cameras.

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 weeks ago

Kevin Sorbo played Hercules in the 90s TV series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Kevin Sorbo is also a huge christofacist and a downright piece of shit. So he deserves to be thrown under the bus here

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 48 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I wonder how long until destruction or removal of these will be considered an act of domestic terrorism...

[–] notsure@fedia.io 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would have directed you to the 4th amendment to the constitution, but those are apparently suggestions instead of rights with the current judicial system.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago

Our current government took its cue from Drew Carry.

Everything's made up, and the points don't matter.

I mean for gods sake! One of our senators has been dead for weeks, and they're just weekend at mcconnels over here.

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Washington State (IIRC) is working on a law that exempts flock from FOIA requests. So that's not far behind.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

The residents need to work on an election that exempts anyone who doesn't come out against this bill from being in the government.

[–] No1@aussie.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

They will attach AI controlled gun turrets to them, and let them defend themselves.

[–] siravious@lemmy.world 40 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If you see someone cutting down a flock camera, no you didn’t

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I just see friendly neighbours trimmin’ some hedges.

[–] GnuLinuxDude@lemmy.ml 27 points 2 weeks ago

no suspects

:)

[–] tal@lemmy.today 26 points 2 weeks ago

Replacing the stolen license plate readers will cost Winona roughly $24,000 total.

That's one possible response to them being removed, I suppose.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I’m stating it now: This is an insurance scam/propaganda scare by Flock to shore up more money and “excuses” for their cameras 😉

Take that as you will.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Makes me think about those Meta glasses, how those cameras are capable of facial recognition, and they're so small you could easily hide them anywhere. These giant black cameras on poles right out in the open could be a red herring... I dunno. With the way things have been going, it wouldn't surprise me.

[–] ClydapusGotwald@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

Good. Also no way someone did that we were chilling at my bbq the whole time.

[–] lnxtx@sopuli.xyz 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

False sense of security.
Automated system that cannot protect itself (I'm not mad tho).

But why the city needs to pay for the new cameras?
Who is the owner? No insurance?

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

In a lot of cases, from what I've heard, the local police pay Flock to put them cameras up, then continue to pay Flock to utilize them. From Flock's perspective it's an insanely good business model.

From the perspective of a citizen who's paying for it, I hope everyone working for Flock d- actually, never mind.

[–] August27th@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

When I think of an automated system that can protect itself, ED-209 comes to mind for some reason.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 12 points 2 weeks ago

And they say that a HEEEEERO COULD SAVE US

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 12 points 2 weeks ago

Couldn't have been that dude. He came over to my place last night.

[–] revelrous@sopuli.xyz 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I want a meet cute story about this person and the Tennessee guy

[–] div@orcas.enjoying.yachts 10 points 2 weeks ago

we were together playing borderlands all night!

stupid sticks don't even take any damage from an electrified bloodwing, these bunch of idiots get confused easily!

[–] blueyonder@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Cool Hand Luke but for Flock cameras, not parking meters.

[–] caboose2006@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Must have been the wind

[–] riskable@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago

Someone cut above the rest‽

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Police are pretty much helpless against anyone who doesn't drive, has friends and a pair of walkie-talkies.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 2 weeks ago

The hero Winona needs.

[–] RabbitBBQ@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

If Flock started making smart glasses you know people would buy them
