I'd be rather disappointed when he turned human, I imagine. Not what I was signing up for at all.
I think the makers of Shrek learned that lesson

Yeah, I remember watching that and was thinking, “now this guy’s just some schlub with no redeeming characteristics, change him back dammit.”
There was an interview with Emma Watson around the live action movie release where she commented along those lines. Something to the effect of, "It's sad in a way when he becomes human. I was just thinking, 'You were quite nice before, actually', you know?"
Made no difference, she was in it for the library anyway.
