There was an interview with Emma Watson around the live action movie release where she commented along those lines. Something to the effect of, "It's sad in a way when he becomes human. I was just thinking, 'You were quite nice before, actually', you know?"

I'd be rather disappointed when he turned human, I imagine. Not what I was signing up for at all.

If they didn't use AI and instead actively choice to terminate workers with disabilities and medical problems unfairly, that seems almost worse. Like, they're just admitting to discrimination, aren't they?

It's like being accused of exercising poor gun safety leading to someone's death and saying, "I exercise perfect gun safety, I actively chose to shoot them!"

It didn't even make sense as a political move. I'd wager most MAGA folks had never heard of USAID or knew what they did, and it was at least helping the US' reputation on the world stage.

Obviously the real value is the good it was doing all over the world, but for the Trump admin that couldn't care less about that, it still made no sense to axe it.
