Yeah, I remember watching that and was thinking, “now this guy’s just some schlub with no redeeming characteristics, change him back dammit.”

Lately, I've been emulating Chrono Trigger in Japanese, Secret of Evermore, Cave Noire, Treasure Hunter G in Japanese, and Sigma Harmonics!

(Sigma Harmonics is a weird one; it's a DS game that came out in '08, and has been so extensively written and presented in Japanese that I think it's impossible to patch, because all the text is vertically written, as the DS is held in book form, and that the text is so thoroughly embedded in concepts inherent to Japanese culture that I wonder how it would be presented in English, but the main conceit of the game goes like this: this dude Sigma is trying to investigate weird circumstances related to time travel, and he does so in a Danganronpa/Ace Attorney kind of way, and the more accurately he makes and defends his case, the easier his partner, Neon, has a time of fighting the end-of-case boss battle. Notably, the soundtrack is by Masashi Hamauzu, and it's goddamn brilliant.)

On my Steam Deck, generally things up to PS2, and on my phone, generally things up to PSP. I’m lately enamored with aftermarket NES games!

I could never really play Terraria, and generally games that need precision mouse movement with precision platforming aren’t games I can play well, because of my brain damage.

Whole-ass Death Stranding, paid $20 for it.

I’m pretty good at Fortune’s Foundation. Just make moves that meaningfully improve the layout, and try to leave one column clear!

Also sometimes I deal Sawayama with actual cards on a table cause I’m about that. I’ve got a little stone paper notebook and a deck of cards that rides in my purse, and I’ve handwritten my favorite solitaire games on it, in case I wanna play something tactile.

Steam Link does it too! I just prefer to have my stuff locally installed. Never know when I’m going somewhere with no internet.

Also while we’re at it, The World Ends With You is built for touchscreens, and is one of the best RPGs in the world. It’s input-heavy, but it’s not trying to mimic a controller. TWEWY came out on the DS back in like ‘08 or so, and eventually got a Switch/ios/android remake that changes and enhances a lot of stuff.

It’s also a kickass game that celebrates Shibuya’s culture, which is an incredibly refreshing setting even twenty years later.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any kind of side loading shenanigans available to me in iOS, and I only speak Japanese and English, but thanks for the recommendation!

It’s an MCON. Some people hate it, but I like mine. Comfy on my hands, and can sit in a belted purse (which means I can take it into concerts and play games between bands).

I’ve got the Zachtronics Solitaire Collection (which to me is the good part. Cluj Solitaire is fun.)
