That couldn't possibly have become a trillion dollar business, though. That was the fantasy they were selling to investors, a future where people would be living their whole lives in Meta's virtual corporate dystopia.

Some of these turned out to be useless, some just haven't been adequately delivered yet.
In 2040 folding phones and autonomous cars might be great, but blockchain will still be a solution in search of a problem.
The store manager doesn't have hiring authority, applications have to come through corporate.
APIs are... how you tell the GPU to do things. Nobody's doing low level hardware access like it's 1990 and you're running MS-DOS.
