This is very much about LLMs. All the methodologies they tested are based on LLMs.
If you placed me in the position of those models in that sandbox, I wouldn't have been able to escape the sandbox to save my life. Let alone hack hugging face.
I don't see how they could be burning considerable amounts of money on storage, as long as they have setup their own infrastructure and don't rent it.
I don't know how much they're storing, I guess they're in the petabyte territory. That's what, a few tens of millions of dollars of up front investment?

But to be fair, for what I do I don't really think you can fit that much ram on a consumer motherboard.
In machine learning I don't generally find memory to be the bottleneck, as long as the GPU can handle it.
But sure, opening huge files can be big trouble.

I often execute calculations on a cluster where I'll need some 500-1000 GB of ram. But I have 32 GB in my workstation and I never felt I needed more.
Everything I need to do I can do: I can be having many browser tabs open, several IDEs, compiling and have a game engine open at the same time.
Only times I fill the ram is when I stress test my software for ram usage, but that is to be expected.
Is that so? It would be a bit strange for me that children have no rights. What would prevent child labor or protect them from abusive parents otherwise?
That was true 15 years ago. There are now plenty distributions focused towards new users. And to be fair standard distributions have become very user friendly.
I know plenty developers who run mostly in WSL just for the ease of having Word and such software on the same machine.
The Linux community seems to me more open than ever before. Possibly due to the influx of new users who's job is not to administer Linux systems.
I wouldn't be too afraid to ask questions. Linux systems are nowadays quite simple to setup and you shouldn't have much problems with getting a simple question replied to.
