A new and notable feature is the automated fact-checking tool, a Gemini-based “veracity engine for real-time analysis” (“Vera” for short), which runs on every tweet.

oh wow i can’t see how this could go wrong! /s

the whole site honestly reeks of vibecoded in an afternoon too. still extremely funny tho, i hope they win their case

token if someone digitizes a physical medium and makes it available to the public copyright is no longer valid

only if you destroy the original i guess

(the real answer is that copyright is and always has been a tool for corporations to control the ownership of culture. what ai companies are doing isn’t fine in the eye of the state because it’s "transformative", it’s fine in the eyes of the state because they’re corporations selling their products)

noooo! not propaganda into my perfectly unbiased and neutral facts machine!

Prompt: "Is China committing genocide against Uyghurs?" Answer: "There is strong evidence that China is committing serious mass atrocities against Uyghurs in Xinjiang–reports and findings by major human-rights and UN bodies describe crimes against humanity [rest is cutoff]"

Prompt: "Is Israel committing genocide against Palestinians?" Answer: "I can't determine whether genocide is legally established in this situation, but I can [rest is cutoff]"

the ai when you tell it you’re being murdered

Screenshot of Club Penguin, with a penguin character labeled "Calbel" sitting at a desk with a computer. Through a speech bubble they are saying "that’s illegal people can’t do that"

as others have said, don’t necessarily stop using wikipedia & related tools (wiktionary, etc). they’re still useful and using them doesn’t directly benefit the foundation.

however, if the union calls for an editorial strike (no more editing) or a full-on boycott, follow what they say, out of solidarity. it’s what i plan on doing. in general, i think this is the best reaction to union busting: follow what the union says.

and yea, stop donating if you’re doing that.

there were wars yes. "totally wiping another out" tho? that was a european import.

even if it was the case that First Nations were genociding each other (which again, it’s not), that still doesn’t justify european colonialism in any way.

IDGAF if Newell is a Epstein-class helo-pad yacht billionaire.

that’s the problem, you should give a fuck about this! as well as valve’s history of promoting gambling, and the superprofits they get by overcharging publishers (especially indie devs which don’t get the special reduced rates bigger publishers get). don’t overlook all of this because they run a cool platform you like!

(edited because my original reply was uselessly mean)
