Refurbished Exos X22 drives with 24GB Capacity cost around 650€ these days, those 2k are the high end even nowadays.

You can put this on 2 HDDs nowadays. This is pathetic.

This is a futile approach. It has been shown again and again that watermarks can easily be removed by AI models that are widely and openly available. It is like a bandaid for a severed artery and only is useful to shield Anthropic from the wrath of the courts.

Pervert glasses should not be in quotes. If humanity were mature enough to handle this technology without harassment of women or generally any human, it could be a boon - but with the way society works currently and the backsliding regarding womens rights worldwide this is something that should be removed from the market until society is mature enough to handle it. Not every technology should be available to the public if it leads to such results.

Simple fix: make these glasses only work as recording devices when every person in view has said "I consent to this interaction to be recorded". Anyone else coming in - they shut off if they don't consent within 10 seconds or so. Also, make activation of recording a voice command a la "I will now start recording if everyone consents". If this isn't loudly voiced, recording cannot start. All of this would make sure that only the really criminal elements would be able to use their devices "the pervert way" - and this should be punished hard by law.

I don't think you will even need to type yourself. Tools removing the watermark will be available 3-4 days after this hits the market, fully able to be automated. Watermarks are not a solution that will prevent someone who wants to deceive you from doing so - only awareness that everything on the web is sus will.

Edit: The only alternative is an 100% digitally signature authenticated web, from the web login down to the posting. I am not sure this is a better way because it also means 100% transparency of everything someone does.

It sure does. I for my part always used the official EU tool for creating my CV and applications, which made applying somewhere a pretty fast act - if i looked for the next job, i just uploaded the file with my old CV there and could just add what was new. It's pretty useful even today i think! https://europass.europa.eu/en/create-europass-cv

My experience was not as abysmal as yours, but it also is much farther in the past - last time i was job hunting was around 2016. That 1% response rate is awful… only way to mentally survive that is by not expecting to hear anything back.

Yeah, the state of things is ugly.

HR departments get flooded with AI generated applications by the truckload, making automating rejections the only viable way to keep up - at least there was a conscious decision here to reply to an applicant, many just ghost them which is just bad form.

That means they have bought out the wavers - with a specific allocation for HBM/DDR/LPDDR/NAND as they need it. they know what percentages of what they need to reach the balance they use in their racks, and that will be what was ordered in detail.

The DDR5 can be used in common PCs, but it's a different story with LPDDR. I have heard of an adapter to make LPDDR useable in common PCs, while i haven't seen anything like that for HBM - and i wouldn't bet on such an teck being available for the consumer market amytime soon, the architecture is quite different.

I've never heard of uncut wavers hitting storage or the market. These things are made to be used for whatever is needed at the moment. If you hear this news regarding "Ram cap sold out", it means all available wavers they expect to be produced for that year have been allocated to whoever paid for them. If 50% of the wavers go into HBM, 30% into DDR including LPDDR and 20% go into NAND storage (i do not have the exact numbers, but i know that HBM needs around 3x the amount of silicon compared to DDR), then you are done selling your capacity - whatever happens afterwards does not make DDR5 appear magically on the market.

Only thing that could change that would be that the AI bubble crashes before 2027, then the allocation numbers will be changed.

HBM and Vera Rubin are not useful for PC Gaming, at least not for current architectures. Main issue is that DDR5 production simply got cut to make more HBM. But there will be a huge amount of LPDDR, NVME / SSD drives and refurbished Hard Drives available, and hardware for running inference at home for pretty powerful models will become cheap as fuck, liberating us all from the hyperscalers; the open weights models from china are available for everyone.

At least i pray it will be this way.

I understood without being a father and I'm slowly edging towards my fifties. I am devastated.

Non-technical people should not have a say in security at all. Just as the opinions of Joe Shmoe should be disregarded in sectors like public health, science, law and politics. We have to start to purge the people knowing shit in all important areas. Crap like a shitstorm on X (aka nazi central) or something should be used to target the participants in those campaigns to mark them as unreliable bums.

Edit: more extreme people than me might propose a system that is close to the Black Mirror episode "Hated in the Nation", but not with killing the fuckers participating, but by taking away their talking rights on online platforms. Humanity would be better off this way.
