Oh my god thank you. Somehow despite being engulfed in this stuff being an I.T person while having affection toward Ed Zitran and full agreement on almost all arguments living this weird ying yang over the topic.

This is the succinct detail I hadn't clued into until this moment of what the core motivation is for all of the crazy spending that makes zero sense. It's literally this. There is no amount of money, lying, cheating or stealing that cannot be justified by the most cynical of capitalist if they believe this is the outcome.

It's such an obvious thing when you put it like that and I'm even sure I've seen it said before but it really hit me for some reason from your comment. They would move mountains if they thought there was even the smallest chance and bet the entire farm over it.

First you have recognize there is no barriers to their cynicism I guess but this is the only root cause conclusion that could be rationalized. That or fomo and temporary wins but for those spending and not on any receiving end, I couldn't make sense of the rational until you said it so plainly.

I mean buying from the EU to ship to themselves. It's late here. I'm tired.

Thank you E.U. I hope you have a run of people buying and shipping products all over the world and it pressures everyone else to follow suit.

Too real but I spent the first 15 making low wages and the last 10 making about the same as you.

Got kicked out the door with others due to cost (first time in 25 years) and get interviews but it has been a difficult time finding another place.

I'm working on my own thing with a few people that also have some runway and I really hope it goes well because the job market sucks and I'm sick of being on this wheel. It won't be because we aren't trying. That's for sure. We don't even care about doing well. We just looked at, what can we get away with and cover expenses without pissing off our wives too much. That's it. That's the whole goal. Not a single turtleneck among us. I don't even care if one of them goes crazy, screws me and takes the lion's share so long as I don't have to go back on the wheel.

Even if this half worked and I took a grocery store or security guard gig pt to make up the difference, that would still be preferable.

But I have big fear about finding myself in a call center again and that was a lifetime ago. I'd rather starve to death.

I'm in this statistic already and found your last bit comforting knowing that it at least will end.

For real though a lot of us are also fed up and starting our own boutique i.t things these days.

I read tech article the other day where the engineer had made several LLM calls and over engineered controlling a smart home light. Then wrote a massive corporate ridden psychoses article about it like he was delivering the word of God.

I can't remember what company had posted it. One of the search vendors I think but it was not cool. It's like everyone got laid off and the only people left is some execs nephew that's "good at computers".
