I'm fully aware of the irony of downplaying how complicated emotions can be ITT, but after all my years depressed or whatever mixture of things I am, I think the simpler concepts have done me the most good overall really.

I came across these 5 words a couple years ago, and it struck me as the exact advice I needed for a long time.

Don't believe everything you think.

Enshittification is a turd that touches everything on the way down to the shareholder value lands.

Buuuut this is the kind of thing that survivorship bias was made for. Were things made to last 60 years ago? Not so sure about that, material quality and engineering have come a long way, though so has systematic greed.

For all the stories there are of old appliances weathering the storm of age, you don't hear about the ones that don't. Likewise, we now have more styles, makes, and manufacturers, which makes more room for cheap flashy stuff to hear about when it breaks unexpectedly after a couple years.

I've had both fridges that lasted 20 years, and ones that lasted 2, sometimes its probably just the luck of who they had running the assembly line that day

Ive been playing fortnite for a while now, the only thing you really buy are all cosmetic, and I see plenty of people using the ftp skins. There's a shop that refreshes daily for new cosmetics, but it's universal, not targeted, and if you're seeing people with stuff in the shop, it's probably because they just bought it themselves. so unless I'm missing something the fortnite comment isn't true.

And yes I know, defending epic is not a very popular position lol, there's definitely enough to criticize already

No good reason for Tesla to still have a 1.5t market cap when Toyota sells 10x more cars at 300b, or ford sells twice as much at 50b. The quality sure isn't better, and I doubt the margin on sales makes up for this.

The only competitive advantage is an egotistical nazi imbecile at the helm, and I only say it's an advantage simply because they're still holding value somehow
