Possibly true.
Lately, Youtube decided it would be a great idea to automatically translate every video into every language, so that people can watch videos from other languages without any barrier. A good idea in theory, maybe, but they implemented it by replacing the original creator's voice with an AI-voiced AI translation (without the creator's consent, of course) ... and the technology is far from good enough to accomplish that well.
then the blame/fault shifts to the user, not the system
Nah, lol. Not when lots of other systems manage to not break userspace on random updates.
You can claim that blame shifts to the user, but I'm still blaming the shitty system.
In a good system, you can trust that updates are well-vetted already before they're pushed to average users, and you don't need to check the news or anything else before updating. You can even set updates to be automatic with a high degree of confidence that it won't mess anything up for you. (Imagine that, the computer automatically updating itself, saving you the trouble of doing it manually... What a thought!)
Hell yeah -- I do want my OS to be boring.
Yeah, lol. Arch people keep telling me that this never happens, and yet here it is.
Nah. Debian is fine for me.
Okay, I'm listening...

If I'm calling support, we're already way past that already anyway. Yes, I'll need to talk to an actual human expert who can figure this out.
Why the fuck would I want ear cameras?
He always wanted to go to Mars. Let's not turn him back on until we've got a sustainable Mars colony up and running. He'll be thrilled!
"When we tried to turn him back on, he wouldn't reboot. Aw, shucks."
This sign won't stop me because penguins can't read.
