It is possible to see those numbers, it's just super janky. If you click on the upvote count in a web browser, a tooltip pops up showing the breakdown of up vs. down votes. Usually... well, sometimes. It helps to zoom way far in and hit it exactly in the center of the number.
I miss Lemmy's better UI presentation of things, and also its vastly superior searching, but otherwise PieFed seems better in every way.
Also, +10 & -10 is a lot better than just "1". The former is controversial while the latter is lack of engagement entirely.
Piefed has a reputation system so that many downvotes from trusted instances - e.g. if hexbear is not defederated from, it still nonetheless does not necessarily have to have a full seat at every table like all other instances - will alert recipients to someone who likes to be controversial. It's not a filter, there is way provided to block such a person based upon this automated system computed from their received scores, but an icon next to the name let's you know that an argument with them is likely to leave you disappointed rather than fulfilled. Incels can do whatever they want, but that does not mean that others should be forced into platforming every single thing that they want to say.
Neat idea: shared blocklists, like uBlock origin filter lists and spam filters.
Although I find that simply blocking the entire instances of hexbear.net, hilariouschaos.com, and lemmygrad.ml takes care of 99% of the problem, and then blocking lemmy.ml deals with 90% of what's left over. The rest is just a few scattered individuals.
Wait... when did you ever need to turn off your PC before you can unplug your mouse or keyboard? Did people genuinely used to need to do this? When? Why?
