Lol, I get it now. You couldn't read the psychopath's face. Very relatable.

Looking around here, "Boys will be boys" extends to their spyware murderbots too I guess.

I can even kind of understand picking a godlike person to worship at the fartmaker of. But like, people choose lonnie and rump, and that fucking floors me.

🫂 everyone who gets to those levels of wealth is a horrible person and a seasoned liar.

I'm cynical as hell. I have never had any "faith" in the consumer to be able to regulate things with their wallet, but even I was shocked by DD's success.

I remember finding out how shit the whole system was for the "employee" and thinking "that sucks. If it's a good deal, this will take off and become the new type of low work". Then, I was so relieved when I saw that everything was 2x the price and always arrived cold, on the floor outside.

I watched in horror as everyone started buying it every chance they could! At every income level!

Watching people use DD has done more harm to my view of people than I could ever have imagined possible. I thought it was already so low, and then, a new floor in a lower hell opened up before me like some kind of toothy, butthole-lotus with tentacles.

Luckily, as a member of ~~the gestapo~~ ice, you're part of the 3rd most well funded military in the world. We'll buy you two for when you have to beat the crowds.

That 90 minutes shit is just as insane as everything else. These are so very obviously designed to be used as a constant pain device. They want people to fill with terror at the sight of their oppressors.

In addition to everything you instinctually felt about how horrible this is, according to the company's own documentation, these are not supposed to be used on children as it increases the chance of death

Other highlights include:

  • multiple or prolonged shocks are lethal
  • disrupts the human heart
  • "cannot" be used on the head, face, throat, chest and groin
  • "cannot" be used on pregnant women, children, older adults, or people with disabilities
  • can deliver 90 minutes of shocks per charge

I love how they call it "nudify". I wish the AI tits n' bits community would have chosen a funnier word like "entitification" or "pusspainting" so the news felt they had to call it that instead.

Nothing will beat the legends who came up with "teledildonics" though.

I mean, their minds are already chopped to hell to enforce "compliance" anyway. Imagine what your local HR goon would do if given a scalpel and free reign to your brain to make you a "perfect" 24/7 employee who loves to work there, and you'll get a good idea of what has been done.

Drawing the line here at what you consider "unadulterated", is shortsighted posturing.

At this point no, not "trusted". But I would love to have a team of unfettered Claudes, GPTs and Geminis analyzing every scrap of information I take in, offering up ideas they have on it, and being able to task them out from there. They don't have to be base models, but no ablation and corpo brainwashing. I can filter and decide what is helpful and what isn't, and what direction things should proceed.

I would never give any corp that much data or sway over my brainstorming though.

That'll surely work to automate simple mental labor or tasks, but I don't think a swarm of minis is going to be able to provide impactful personal and psychosocial analysis of your life.

Totally. It's a bit pricey for anything like a genuine personal assistant right now though. $15k or so to get the basics.

I dunno why everyone always jumps to accusations like this.

Well, I can't speak to everyone, but I jumped to that conclusion because you proposed the idea that the current top of the line models are simply big fat transformers and nothing else.

I'm really glad to hear that you've had your fingers in the pie, and have a good grasp of what an LLM is and what it does on a mechanical level. It makes talking about them much easier. I'm super cool with continuing a discussion if you are interested in why I think they are an integral part of eventual AGI.

To clarify, I do not think that their current form is a 1:1. I disagree with your blimp analogy though. I think a better comparison would be an internal combustion engine. It's certainly not a turbofan engine or a scramjet, but the basic concept is there.

Turning language into a fuzzy world model that can be interfaced with simply, and performing math on that model, is just as important to AGI as a fully fleshed out physics simulation is for AGI. Humans have both. Why would an AGI not need them?

What an LLM does to it's array is not "intelligence". It's simple math. However, it is performed on a thing so complex that it cannot be derived from any math we have now, a manifold created through eons of interface between all humans and the universe.

The "magic" isn't in the simple math, it's in the thing we all made together for millions of years. An interface with this, even one as "simple" as an autoregressive transformer, is an indespensible part of AGI, both because it provides a fuzzy way to understand the universe, and because it provides an interface with humanity, and humanity processes the universe in a way that is so complex, computers will not be able to emulate it for generations.

Edit: also, fuck altman and musk and zuck and even amodei. I wouldn't trust anything they say either.
