I have no idea if it is proper, but I've always just used queer.

I, gen-x, as a kid in the early eighties, imagined 2026 as either a post nuclear war apocalyptic wasteland like Mad Max, or a cyberpunk dystopia like Neuromancer, Cyberpunk 2020, or Bladerunner. One of those two came true.

EDIT:

I've concluded that AI gives the illusion of competence, like a overly confident new manager.

I like to call this "confidently incorrect", and ChatGPT is probably the worst culprit.

How far they've fallen, all due to a single acquisition.

For those unaware, the saying used to be "If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going". The reason for this was because Boeing had a well deserved reputation for quality, reliability, and overengineering. It was a company run by engineers. Another company named McDonnell Douglas, with the polar opposite reputation, went or was about to go bankrupt. It was a company run by salesmen. Boeing decided to buy McDonnell Douglas but instead of firing the entirety of MD's executive branch, they decided to absorb them. In short order the MD virus that was their sales first executive team spread and eventually took over Boeing.

This is as I remember it so if I got something wrong, please correct me.

Zuck: We are going to train our AI using data from our employees' computers.

AI: * generates child porn

Zuck: Oh...no....

I dunno. I have mixture of Windows, Linux and Mac, and the M chip macs are a fucking beast. Stable, stupid fast, silent, and cool (as in temperature).

I am transitioning all remaining Windows workstations to Proxmox VE based VDIs, but for the people that need a total solution on the road and offline, the mac is hard to beat. Win11 ARM as a VM on Apple silicone runs faster, with less power draw and with significantly less heat than the original installnon raw metal. I'm not sure what dev tools your shop is using for the Macs, but we have had no issues.
