I mean, flights in the 70's were also about 3x more expensive than now as well. If you want free bags and treated well, you pay more for your flight, first or business class will give you all of that.

You don't in Europe either. Flights drastically change depending on time, date, and oh if your cookies have been refreshed or not.

Trains would just do the same thing, hell they already do a similar version of it. It's not fixed per route pricing.

They already have been doing it, and it's just an extension of what every airline has done since de-regulation, just more granular. If anything, this will make them more money, especially when they already aren't profitable as an airline, they are profitable because they act as a bank.

It won't. First and best thing you can do is cancel any credit card you have with them. But people are suckers for those bonuses. Rember, Delta and all of the big US airlines are bigger banks now than actual airlines.

The third party sites will just start getting the max rate, which would effectively eliminate them. Airlines (at least in the US) aren't making money off flights any longer anyways, it's all off credit cards. Delta is more of a bank than an airline.

Yep, and if you have a rewards or membership number, they just will ban you. If it happens once not a big deal, couple times even, start doing it regularly though, you will get caught.

They literally will ban you for skip lagging (especially if you use any rewards type system). May save you a few bucks if you don't use them often and don't care, but not a great idea.

Or your bag will go into the overhead, and you'll be the first off the plane, especially when you have a tight connection. That 1A is getting to your next flight. That 38F is f'ed.

Why is it so hard for people to just leave their electronics at home?

[–] GalacticRobot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Seems like a mask and no electronics on you would be a far better solution here. Perhaps even a fancy mask celebrating the great Spooky Season holiday.

Uber is going to start implementing the same thing, so mobile Flock that you wouldn't be able to take down.
