But if we all abandon Delta and they get screwed, it'll restore some much-deserved fear to the other airlines.

It won't. First and best thing you can do is cancel any credit card you have with them. But people are suckers for those bonuses. Rember, Delta and all of the big US airlines are bigger banks now than actual airlines.
