That's utterly unsurprising

Knowing hicks in 'Murica, I am on the side of the truck

When being lazy finally becomes too difficult

While people are willing to pay for some poor bastard to bring a milkshake to their door in 115° heat without thinking about the slave doing their bidding just to survive, 'Murica will keep doing what' Murica does

Exploiting people. Being a collective example of every single thing that people can do to treat others badly

And they will be pissy when they are called out for it

I really love living somewhere where unions have a strong influence and collective bargaining is the norm

'Murica is a fucking joke.

It's quite literally the law of the sea

Anyone skippering his vessels knows what they're signing up for, and should be hung out to dry for this shit

You'll upset a lot of yanks who ignore how 'Murica sat out most of the war, how Henry Ford and others were huge fans of Hitler, and that they didn't rescue the rest of the world

'Murica is one of the least free places I have ever experienced in the world

The civilised world has always sneered at 'Murica

But now we look upon the disaster with great pity for those who have been unfortunately born there who deserve better

Oh, I know it

Even those who move to civilised countries still struggle to break the chains sometimes

I'm a Luddite

I'm still absolutely unaware of what the "fediverse" is, or how lemmy works

I took two months to figure out how to Chromecast to a TV when something changed and I couldn't follow basic instructions from Google

And yet, even I am able to easily find sites to watch the shit I want to that requires paying shitty 'Murican companies (mostly I enjoy SBS and ABC stuff, because I live in Australia and they have wonderful offerings for all who live here for free)

It's ironic

They have to work so hard to survive, and yet, when it comes to thinking, they're incredibly lazy

I genuinely pity them, because I know that as a society, they're only in such a situation because they're beaten into submission and apathy

They're placated by unbelievable convenience, having everything an hour's delivery away, and numbed to the fact that that means someone is slaving (I use that term deliberately) for their laziness

The mental gymnastics to justify every part of that shitty, exploitative excuse for a society are endless

And when they see other cultures, where we are actually free, they point and laugh, because they are too ignorant to understand

I spend a lot of time in 'Murica, under duress

I hate the place, I see the cruelty and ignorance, and I would gladly offer asylum to those who deserve it, but even amongst the relatively civilised, that's a small number
