I feel like it's because women don't yet have the option to get cybernetic implants. They can't hack the servers of the Palantir corp with a thought or jump the distance of a football field so they have to make do with lip collagen or whatever. Sad really.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are you making a meta joke that I'm just too dumb to understand? Where exactly is the misogyny here? Half of the world is women, some of them will do things that are questionable or just plain silly/funny, and jokes will be made. 🤔

[–] atro_city@fedia.io -1 points 2 months ago

You're not allowed to do that. Women are a protected class that cannot be made fun of. Men on the other hand...

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Lemmy has a sexism problem, frequently. It needs to get called out more.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You're absolutely right, joking about women is to far.

[–] mholiv@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Classic 2012 Reddit response. Lemmy has a sexism problem and it shows.

You remind me of the ”I’ll never talk to women in the office again” people during the me too movement.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You are mistaken I would never say anything negative about women (unless you're a women then you're correct and I am sorry)

[–] mholiv@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

😂 Imagine doubling down on 2012 Reddit sexism.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

women are half the world are you asking us to exclude them all jokes and comedy? that would be rather sexist of you

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

There’s ways to be funny without punching down.

Lemmy does have a sexism problem. It’s pervasive.

[–] decipher_jeanne@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Would it be funny making a joke about some random guy being fat and ugly?

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This literally happens all the time and no one complains about it because "man bad"

Okay in insight, I didn't pick a good example. Let me try again

You wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) make fun of a gym-bro starting to take anabolic steroids to look more buff.

That person is suffering from body dysmorphia. Modern beauty standards can push people to extreme or sometimes dangerous treatment. See how the situation is similar to a woman feeling she needs to do facial surgery and take weight-losing drugs, to fit into an impossible beauty standard?

Neither of those situations are good nor should be made fun of. Agree?

But then we had several posts making fun of women in that situation, and someone rightfully called out the blatant sexism.

[–] Kushan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Op you have mistaken commentary on social pressure to look beautiful and follow specific fashion trends as some kind of misogyny..

It's not, these are very real things women feel pressured into doing and it should be called out.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Only attractive women though.

Everyone is fine with ugly women getting plastic surgery apparently.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

“Haha look at how UGLY this woman is!”

“Why do women change their appearance to be more attractive?!”

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

do you not know the forehead tic tac toe meme?

it is usually not meant as an insult or to call someone ugly, but its just a meme where you play tic tac toe on someones forehead

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It’s clearly poking fun at this woman’s appearance by inferring she used a sharpie as mascara.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

oh, sorry if its actually meant that way

I went to the comments section and found this

and assumed it was about playing forehead tic tac toe with that sharpie

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That’s in the comment section, that’s not the main post.

You’re also completely side-stepping that the next meme is a direct commentary on women’s appearances following this meme making fun of a woman’s appearance.

You’re pretty defensive about making fun of women.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I did not defend the top meme because there was nothing to defend about it, its honestly a terrible meme and would be better if "women" was replaced with "people"

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago

I’m talking about your other comments in this thread.

You’re very protective over being able to make fun of women. It’s interesting you chose this post to defend that.

[–] napkin2020@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago
[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is gonna be another thread full of a bunch of fragile masculinity with men who feel the need to share their opinion about women without anyone asking them again

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why do you think people need to be asked to express an opinion on a platform like this?

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why do y’all act so shocked when you’re called out for your sexism then?

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

How does this answer my question?

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

No one needs permission to post their opinions here, I agree.

I don’t understand why y’all are so shocked when others have differing opinions from your incel views then. We’re allowed to disagree with you as well.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I would appreciate if you wouldn't insult me based on a flimsy assumption.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I’m simply responding to your comment defending those opinions.

You jumped in to defend men’s unwanted opinions on women unprompted. People are allowed to react to it.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I did none of those things. You simply assumed, put me in a group and then you insulted me.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is gonna be another thread full of a bunch of fragile masculinity with men who feel the need to share their opinion about women without anyone asking them again

Why do you think people need to be asked to express an opinion on a platform like this?

You, unprompted, jumped in to defend men who want to share their opinions on women without anyone asking them.

I'm allowed to express my opinion on this platform about what that says about you to the rest of us here.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No, I didn't defend them. I asked about the reasoning behind your opinion. I never stated my opinion.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Your actions speak for you.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Seems more like you try to speak for me.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just responding to your initial comment.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

How does this contradict what I wrote?

Yes, you respond with assumptions.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Did I say it contradicted it? Or are you making assumptions?

We're all allowed to express our opinions here, aren't we? My opinion of you is unchanged with this little game you're trying to play.

It doesn't take much to guess why you responded to that user's initial comment in a "just asking questions" type way.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes I assumed that you try to deny that you try to speak for me.

Yes, we are. I'm not playing a game. To be honest I'm kind of baffled how a simple question escalated like that.

Doesn't take much to guess wrong.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I was agreeing with you that we're all allowed our opinions here. Including opinions that go against the grain.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh I just realize that you aren't the person I initially asked the question.

With you it's that you called me an incel and assumed I have an opinion that I don't hold. I was asking a question because i was curious of how someone would arrive at a conclusion.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You’re defending incel talking points.

That’s what I meant by your actions speak for you.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You are crazy :D I'm done talking to you.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago

I'm so curious about the unwanted opinions on women that you'll go on to express :)
