This man looks like he was engineered in a lab to be the villain of an iCarly special.

FIFA, "I'm worried that this contract might be ethical."
Ethics Committee, "If you look over here, that's a conflict of interest, oh and this here is clearly a bribe. Oh and this part is anti-competitive practice, everything looks in order, you're good to go!"
FIFA, "Great! But do you think we are paying the children too much to make our merch?"

FIFA, “Great! But do you think we are paying the children too much to make our merch?”

Ethics Committee: "What? You're paying them? Ugh. We need to have a talk."

Well, we paid FOR them. It's called depreciation. And there's maintenance fees.

The professional sports world is rotten to the core. Basketball not counting travelling, baseball and steroids (looking at you, Bonds), football and diving since almost forever. But I must say this case, even if I don't follow sports, is outrageous. So because a president of a country had a temper tantrum they decided to revoque the referee's decision? Utterly ridiculous

Trump called Infantino complaining about a card for a USA player and FIFA obliged, of course...

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 month ago

Then the US lost 4x1 lmao

I like saying, "If you ever feel useless, just remember that somebody is installing turn signals at the BMW factory."

Oh it has a use, to deflect ethical concerns about its operation. It's a wing of the PR department.

And, in that role, they're probably actually quite busy. It must be very burdensome to continually come up with excuses and ways to justify FIFA's behavior.

The bigger the swamp, the more mud there is.
