This is NOT a robot its an RC biped

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 9 points 16 hours ago

But Patel observed that many of the robotic competitors were still being teleoperated by human operators who directly controlled the robots’ actions. The World Humanoid Robot Games allowed for human teleoperation of robots in certain events, but penalized the final score if robots were being remotely controlled rather than performing autonomously.

In other words, they know. The games preferentially favor fully automated bots. But that's a really high bar, so they also don't make you go home if your team can't achieve that in every event.

If RC is good enough for robot wars it's good enough for this!

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

But Robot Wars was up front about this use of remote control. The ccp hides it and miss labels them as "robots" which implies self controlling.

Also robot wars was a tv show, this article is pure propaganda lies to make it seem china came up w/ something new that the US and Europe had down 15 years ago or more.

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

It's not hiding it... It's in the rules.

You're acting like this is one monolithic ccp program, but there are engineering teams from many universities and companies competing here. This is in fact a lot like Robot Wars, it's just a flashy robotics competition, there are a lot of these.

The Chinese government didn't build any of these robots, none of them. They don't have any claim to have invented something new, because they didn't invent anything. What I'm saying is, your complaints don't make any sense.

Don't bash the article before you read it.

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world -5 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Glazing the ccp as these are NOT ROBOTS, they are glorified toys that the rest of the world developed 15 years ago and the ccp thinks they are innovators on stolen tech.

All companies and universities fall under the ccp control, aka the chinese government. So yes they built them. How out of touch are you or are you a shill?

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Show me on the doll where China touched you.

China, no. ccp yes, they are evil. Tell me about Tienanmen Square in 1986? The lies on how Hong Kong was supposed to be hands off for 50 years and the no honor ccp reneged. Tell me about the "Belt and Road" initiative to enslave poor countries. Then that same project are "tofu dreg" and kill locals?

Zambia and the ccp killing a entire river because safety is not a concern.

Biggest vocation is food delivery in mainland as the economy is in free fall. Factories are burning because they haven't paid employee's in 6+ months and there is no recourse as the ccp cuddles up to the factory "owners" so the workers torch them.

So shill would you like me to go on? I can do this for days. Lets talk about the bridge collapses and that dam that failed in Guangxi? 3 Gourges is going to pop soon and thats going to be a Biblical event... Oh and the flooding as there are fake drainage as the land of short cuts and facades has to deliver.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Do you watch the China show with serpentza?

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 0 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Among others and I used to work SIGINT so I have more than a cursory understanding of this enemy.

I do like Winstons new channel with old school video and computer gear. Blast from the past :)

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 2 points 2 hours ago

Ah, yep. I remember him talking about it, but haven't watched any. LGR is also very very good for old tech

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Its definitely easier to double down rather than admit you've been wrong most your life about this, I suppose.

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world -1 points 11 hours ago

My life is perfect, don't project your failings on me.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

Tell us about Minnesota ICE murder 2026 or Kent State 1970, or the Minnesota 35W bridge collapse.

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You really want to give the ccp all the credit? Weird. Are you a ccp shill?

So that show we mentioned, robot wars, are those robots? I mean it's right there in the name, but is that just propaganda? These are all manually controlled.

What about that Boston dynamics dog, spot? Is that a robot? Because those can be controlled manually too.

I think you need to adjust your definition of "robot", because you seem to have it wrong.

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world -2 points 15 hours ago

Reading isn't your strong suit, thats ok considering how education is going these days.

Robot Wars is tv, aka not a government run propaganda campaign.

Boston Dynamics and I quote you

"What about that Boston dynamics dog, spot? Is that a robot? Because those can be controlled manually too"

Keyword "CAN" be controlled manually. But still can act on its own as a robot/autonomous.

I think you need to adjust your definition of "robot", because you seem to have it wrong.

No I use the definition of robot in spirit of Isaac Asimov.

And the ccp glazer/shill tries to call the person out shitting all over the ccp as a ccp shill. very interesting.

You have the lack of understanding of what a robot is, not me there pal.
