The relevant section is blunt. "The Software is licensed to you, not sold," the EULA states. "You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and personal license to play or use the Software for your private, non-commercial use on the system or device it was intended for."

The terms also restrict renting, modifying, or obtaining games through unauthorised means. Nothing in there is new, technically. Sony's EULA has always said this. The timing is what makes it land differently right now.

To the seas. How does this conflict with the digital media copyright protection acts

I’ll be interested to see if someone builds a Linux version that runs on the PS5, I installed it on my PS3 but haven’t seen much about that since.

You can run Linux and steam on ps5 but jailbreaks are as of now limited to older firmwares. The ps5 is aggressive about making updates mandatory so you either need a console someone purposely did not update in anticipation of a jailbreak break years later or one that’s been sitting around not being used for a somewhat long time

PS3 had an advertised OtherOS option that they rug pulled.

Yeah that’s back when they were supporting it, now it’s closer to a jailbreak

I think Linux has been shown running on PS5
