Wasn't there a thread the other week warning everyone about Microsoft device fingerprinting and there were chuds in the comments saying it was a nothing-burger and the fingerprinting was necessary for licensing or some shit? Talk about timing!

I mean, Lazy RedHat narcissitic Tech Bro Linux uses a a device ID as well, but you can purge it and get a new one, or rip the "convenience" parts out and ust configure things like we used to.

It's not necessary, it just makes things smoother, and easier to set up so it works with no idea what you're doing.
