I think they will eventually do it. Or they will make a new system and not have it be open source. And leave AOSP to languish. And this is why my next device is going to be a device that supports post-market OS.

I'm going to make sure of that before I buy it, because even if it's difficult, it will be worth the switch.

I think there might be a signal fork similar to how Mali operates that would let you use it on a Linux phone but I've only heard about it in passing and so I don't know the name of it but you might want to take a look

That's something I will need to look into as well when I eventually make the switch.

If nothing else, you can use WayDroid until you get the apps you need. I understand that it's still using Android as a crutch, but at least the base system would be Linux.

I really want to move away from Android to straight Linux phone, but some applications like, Signal Messenger, don't have a non-Android or iOS version.
