They handle the manufacturers warranty so what the fuck are we supposed to do?!
Do exactly as the warranty says, and take it where the warranty says, so you have recourse when stupid shit happens like them stealing your hardware, or not fixing it.
and, most importantly, ignore idiots on the internet. You paid for the warranty, use it. If the products shit, you'll get your moneys worth out of it.
I know I did when I got a dell laptop, for years after i paid like 150 bucks a year for extended warranty.. and I 100% know that dell lost massive amounts of money on that deal, considering how many times they had to send people to where I was located to fix the damn thing, not to mention the multiple just straight full up exchanges they did.
and none of that would have happened if I had been a gonk and taken a screw driver to it and fucked it up worse.
If you have an active warranty, use it for all its worth.
Just as an aside, you didn't directly say it but may have inadvertently implied it, but the post says BestBuy sent back the extra 32 GB they removed with the laptop. They didn't steal it.
That wasnt my intent to imply, but upon rereading you are right to comment about it because I can see how it can be misconstrued as implying best buy stole something.
I'm not going to edit my original post though, so your post remains relevant, and because both have already been seen and reacted to by others.
righty tighty lefty loosy. There. You're now more qualified for PC repair than any one working at best buy/target.
Except that won't be valid for warranty repairs. If you want your computer fixed at the manufacturer's cost, you have to take it to a manufacturer certified shop. At least Best Buy can handle it locally and you don't need to sent it off.
If you own hardware that voids its own warranty when you open it up, you don't own that hardware.
Same with cars.
Same with anything.
That has literally nothing to do with what they said….
It's not about voiding a warranty, it's about having a warranty claim processed.
You can maintain your stuff all you want, but if your shit breaks, and you want someone else to pay for it, you're going to have to let them fix it.
That means taking it to best buy, or another authorized repair shop.
... then see my original point.
Go anywhere other than Best Buy.
... exactly.
