The other thing people on Lemmy / Hackernews/ Reddit don't seem to get is that people are not using laptop or desktop computers anymore. More and more people only have a phone and maybe a tablet. People with phones and tablets do not know what a browser is. It's baked into the system. Everyone on Android is using Chrome and they very likely don't even know it.

I mean it makes total sense the minute you think about it at all.
- some middle managers year end goals include this unpalatable feature
- they release it
- public freaks out
- pr walks it back a bit
- that managers back at work the week after trying to get that feature in because they need to justify the work they just did on it for better compensation
It's the same with laws.
It's very hard to get the electorate united to oppose something but if they manage to unite and oppose a bill the lobbyists are back at work on Monday pushing it by a different name.
I think it's less that 30 is old and more that that is about the age your start to realize the age difference.
You can live most of your twenties and still feel somewhat connected to people plus or minus 5 years. However when you hit 30 you start to have more in common with people who are 40 than people who are 20.
That said I didn't really have this experience until I was in my late 30s and the little track suit crews with their broccoli cuts showed up. I'm just a late bloomer I guess.
The reality is they don't need to listen.
They have so much data on users.
It just goes on and on and on.
People think they are unique but they are not as unique as they think.
