So, say a tower block fire happens at 2 am. You're getting 50 calls a minute, 20% from residents and the rest from people calling to say they see a fire.

How long would it take for your trained staff to spring into action compared to an on demand AI? And are you paying your on-call staff to wait, or only when they're on the phone?

edit: I'm thinking about the Grenfell Towers. I listened to the BBC's coverage of the enquiry, and it was rough. Gave me a new appreciation for what emergency responders do.

This matches my experience. My college archive digitizes a few yearbooks a year (for whatever classes are having as big reunion) and it's a pain. For modern yearbooks (70s and later) we have a dozen or more copies, so we take one apart and feed it through the feed scanner, which works well. We then store the loose pages in a folder, in case we need to rescan anything.

Older yearbooks (where we don't have so many copies) we use the flatbed scanner and the pages come out warped, so we hand fix each page in Photoshop.

You’re right. The word is vile and I shouldn’t have made it sound like a matter of personal taste. It's not "gross", it's dehumanizing. I’m sorry.

I didn't use the term "deflowered", I explained how it made me feel when someone else used it. I said it's a gross term and makes me feel gross to hear, which feels like the appropriate reaction to hearing about raped children.

It sucks that you were raped and I'll take your experience into consideration when I emotionally evaluate the word "deflowered" when I encounter it used to describe experiences similar to your experience.
