The reason why the outcry over GoT's decline was so loud is that it actually managed to make previous seasons worse by its existence. All that intrigue your favourite characters were building over the previous 5 seasons? None of that ever mattered; either it got forgotten about by the writers, or the character switched into stupid mode and threw all their progress away for no reason.
