Tons of people do it though? I do personally, and then there's more professional outfits like story corps.

Because you completely missed the point of talking with the elderly with your statement. It's to make a connection with another human and share a bit of the human experience. An LLM for this purpose would be an abomination.

There's a difference between being ignorant and stupid. Kids are amazingly quick learners and can think outside the box in ways that adults can't fathom.

If that's the primary thing holding you back, I'd say it would be worth questioning your position.

Only on Lemmy could someone get so down voted for having the audacity of wanting to live!

Don't let the doomer/antinatalist types get you down.

I buy albums from here sometimes, I like them as well!

I've heard navidrome is good. I use plexamp right now but might eventually switch. For the normal user, however, that's too complicated.

Some people just want to listen to music, not setup a self hosting stack.

You actually use this? I just looked into it and the idea seems interesting, but I'm not sure how they deal with copyright issues with sharing. Seems like it has an extremely small user base so maybe nobody has come after them yet?

I guess one could decide to only listen to free music that's not shackled by copyright

And I assume you only stream from the finest non proprietary platform owned by a cooperative of saintly patrons? What platform do you use?

Between that, having high bit rate music, and last I recall being the music streaming platform that pays the actual artist the most, Tidal is making a strong case for being the best platform out there.
