My question is what their motivation is.

  • Do they want to close down open models so more is directed at the frontier/closed companies (OpenAI/Anthropic)?
  • Or are they trying to diversify and push open models as a safety net for when the bubble bursts

Strangely, I'm a 13th generation Mayflower baby as well (via John Howland), but unfortunately my whole family has long been Mormon (not me since I graduated high school at least). I don't associate with them either.

Those are good tips! We currently have seed feeders. and are attracting lots of house finches, gold finches, and chickadees (and occasionally pigeons). We've considered getting hummingbird feeders, so will keep this post in mind!
