I'd argue there is a network effect lockin going on with Google, and it needs fixing by governments. Google, and others, should have to share basic road speed data.

OS Maps are great. You know MapMen? They love OS Maps.

To be honest, even a static DB of recorded road speed using time of day, day of week, time of year, averages, would be a lot better than nothing. It would mean it knows you can't really go 60 down a bendy, narrow, stone wall lined, single lane, country road. Not and live anyway. So it would stop trying to use them all the time.

But hey, if there is internet, why not query it for the latest?

I only skimmed.

I'm not joking about the Ordnance Survey bit. When I'm on walks, I often am in area with bugger all phone reception (common in the UK) and the quality of the maps means it really is as good.

It's why the lack of traffic upsets me so, because I'd love to use it in the car as my main maps for Android Auto, but without traffic, that's just doesn't work well enouhg.

It's great in many ways, and maps are great. You can get Ordnance Survey style maps.

BUT it desperately needs traffic information in its route finding. It frequently makes terrible decisions in the absence of this data.

By there not being enough consequences for these boys, not only are you making more boys like this, but not doing those boys any favours either. No one mentally healthy is going to want to be with that kind of boy.

Weak parents. Weak schools. Weak government. Failing everyone.

Was really just talking about whole remote vs local gaming thing. Latency does depend on the type of game. Some it matters less than others.

If it is (can't look at the source can we), it is only is as long as they choose it to be. It's removal is always just one update away.

If they really wanted to be a team player, they wouldn't be clearly avoiding the GPL. Valve are being better. When a company is going out their way to not have to contribute it is because there is stuff they don't want to. Same with Apple and Sun before them, and endless others. If the BSD ideal worked, the BSDs would be the biggest Unix like distros community. The whole reason copyleft exists is because of the "tragedy of the commons" BSD keeps suffering from. Even if a few companies contribute some of it back, some times.

Does happen though. Better to have the option and not often use it, than not have the option at all.
