Oh yeah, I missed the whole 'bought this year' bit and forgot to account for the price hikes. Might be comparable to our build then. Whoof.

Totally! Plays pretty much everything we throw at it, except for one not-really-optimized indie UE5 game that's borderline (which is probably partially the game's fault, they improved optimization quite a bit since launch and it runs significantly better now but still not stellar, 30fps at most, but it's playable; everything else runs just fine, generally solidly 60+).

That doesn't sound low-mid to us, but maybe we're Just Poor™. Our CPU was like $100 and our GPU was like $250, used (only used part in the whole build). All told, maybe $600? It's not a very fancy computer. It'd certainly cost WAY more now though, with the explosion of prices.

Because it's Google trying to control not just everything ELSE about the internet, as if that wasn't enough, but even what image formats we use.

If PNG and JPEG aren't good enough, which they often are, by the way, JPEG XL is right there.

Eh, UEFI isn't bad in general.

Yeah, it's more complicated, and a lot more stuff is up to the firmware, and "secure boot" sucks, but aside from that "secure boot" nonsense, it's not like it mandates any crappiness, and it's not like they couldn't have built this shit into a BIOS-mode computer if that was still the standard.

And I gotta say, bootloaders being regular files is REALLY nice.

Camera mounted to your helmet probably works just as well and also might be a deterrent to drivers who might otherwise try to murder you (because you could record them in the attempt)! In that context having a visible camera is probably a good thing.

...I hate that that has to be a thing but yeah.

Ooh, good to hear there are laser printers out there that can print good art!

Also $80 for a cartridge?? holy HECK ink is a ripoff. Wow.

For printing art? :<

That's why I want a printer, personally. For documents and stuff we can go to the library. Printing kinky furry art, not so much.

That 5% is 5% of the users who don't turn the telemetry off.

And if use of that feature is strongly correlated with the type of person who also turns off telemetry...
