Boomers.. Everything they do, they think they deserve a profit

Of course you love AI. We've all seen your AI slop posts on c/linuxsucks. And, a lot of it is old information and wrong, which, you don't even verify (like about Discord).
That's also why you need to ban any comments in your community, because even you know it's slop
I'm not sure we want a lot of the trolls or bots here.. Fortunately, I feel like they'd go to instances which lemmy world is de-federated from fortunately though.
It's fairly obvious in a lot of the local subreddits that there are a huge amount of lobbyists (same as facebook). Like the gun/pro-vaping people posting at 2AM really stand out in them
These were pretty steep stairs. And I have plantar fascitis. With a 20kg pack, not much you can do really
Walking speed is very subjective though. Realistically, hikers never agree on time it takes, and a lot of it comes down more to experience with your speed. In my case, I'm actually probably stronger than many people going uphill.. But, downhill, my feet start to hurt and I get slow quickly.
Perfect example of Google maps issue, is that we did Grampians on the weekend here in Australia. And, it still had a road/track which had been completely deleted (probably long ago). And it wasn't on any other maps.. There was a rusted sign that had been long removed and sawed off sitting where the route clearly used to be, but no sign of route anymore
These days, most people tend to just use AllTrails or Avenza because they're convenient. For Thru hiking (really long hikes), people tend to use products (apparently) like Captopo which better facilitate planning, tagging on long hikes and time calculations (I am hoping to do a thru hike soon).
In practice though, stolen untested routes used in Alltrails present their own problems though, as, the Alltrails team don't actually check if the routes are safe or correct. I suspect they just steal them from other sources. But, for most people, its great as its convenient
OpenTopo/Openstreetmaps are commonly used as the source for a lot of mapping systems though, as it tends to be up to date and accurate in most places. (i use it on my garmin etrex 32x as a backup). I was also advised to use Strava Heatmaps on a hike I am planning to do to find water in certain locations, however, I use GPX Map viewer Pro, and use people I trust for routes if possible (or make my own).
Google Maps is great for roads, but, the data simply isn't that accurate for anything else. And, there is no good way to report bad hiking routes. With OSM and other things, they can be fairly easily fixed
This is a very rare occasion. In the real hiking community, nobody uses Google maps
Jesus. Who is actually up voting this?
The name of the charge in some countries is use of the phone when driving.. and that includes carrying it on your lap. It's possible despite the description it's just the description they use
There's a fucking photo of her with it on their lap. That's proof
This is just some wanker playing victim. And, I guarantee they play victim constantly. Can we not act like babies about this and try to protect the weasels?
It's 2026 and most people have Android Auto or car play at this time. It's not like there is any excuse.
It's fair for the one that turned out wrong, but in this case, seems it's correct.
Also, it's some shitty random website, so I guarantee the info is partially wrong too. There is already one correction that it wasn't flock
If it was the police who pulled these people over, they'd be arguing with them too
Police have better shit to do than mobile phone enforcement
And, in what circumstance should they be speeding? That makes no sense. If there was a valid reason, you can contest the ticket anyway
There sure as fuck is no valid reason for them whatsoever to have their mobile on their lap
Not allowed to keep her phone on her lap when driving. Let's be honest, she used it, and put it down quickly
Here in Australia a cop busted me using my phone once (not defendable, but I was at a red light).
I have no problem with that. I also have no problem with mobile phone detection either still despite getting pulled over
If you don't want to follow the traffic laws don't drive or change country (but don't complain if you get hit by a oncoming car)
Boomers were my first thought too.
Particularly car enthusiasts often overvalue their stuff, and attack everything they won't benefit from (like EV's, or electrification).
