Maybe not. It's like car enthusiasts refusing any modern car, especially EV that are on paper much more powerful but less fun to tinker and go down country roads.

That's car as transport versus car as status symbol. Did you know rich people had large lawns as status symbol back in the day just because they were expensive to maintain? An expensive car in the driveway next to a small patch of grass in a desert climate does the same.

That's the whole story from the beginning. It's not good and trustworthy enough for the real work but they've poured all that money in there so it needs to be used.
