I suggest finding a new insurance agent. Sounds like yours didn't feel like looking around for you.
Same as the other responder, it's the homeowner's insurance I'm typically shopping around for. I also have a habit of limping aging vehicles I purchased for $1000 beyond the 150k mile (240k km) mark. They tend to try sneaking full coverage in there and are VERY SURPRISED to see the cost come down significantly. If I'm lucky, I can get an overall discount by bundling both together.
I go through an insurance broker and they said that it's important to check around every renewal to see what is being offered. They rely on customers getting complacent. If everyone actually shopped around every year, it would theoretically drive prices down. They would have to resort to price fixing to keep their massive profits.
An even more fun game might be to create communities to be banned where regex would ban other communities.
I'm with you, 100%. Each of these big corpos is creating massive ecosystems to entrap users.
It's advertised as cloud storage and incredibly dependable. It business leaders tell people that the cloud is the best because they use it. What they fail to tell you is that you don't meyet to them and they will delete you for any reason.
The others are right, but it is possible for hardware to have installation software embedded. It's not as common now, but consumer Dell printers about 10 years ago (and probably others, but that's what I ran into) had drivers embedded in an internal flash ROM. You switched between using the printer as a flash drive and accessing the printer directly using the buttons on the front of the printer.
