And then there are people who simply can't comprehend if someone does not want to be in a picture. And then people who wouldn't stop trying get pissy if you point out that you have a right to your own picture by law (in Germany, that is) and that I demand them to stop trying to photograph me.

The idea of being forgotten gives me solice.

Wouldn't say that. OpenSuse Tumbleweed might got some tech debt with their backend and doesn't come with fancy stuff such as Kernel modifications like Cachy, but their rolling distro is rock solid. And for the few cases where something really breaks the bootable btrfs Snapshots come by default.

It still is for Intermediate users for sure (the installer expects you to know what you want - yet is a GUI). But in terms of stability they really nailed it, I'd absolutely use it for work horses that require newest software. Or Leap if I require binary compatibility to SLED/SLES.

It's impossible to prevent that given Corposcum doesn't give a shit about anything actually worth living for or with and the majority of people who're being flooded with this garbage are being sucked into it, but these AI-free places are phenomenally important to retain our (online) culture and human online spaces. Without them the internet becomes useless, an amalgamation of pointless, worthless junk.

It's causing an enormous social and cultural debt we'll have to deal with in the future, as society will truly realise the (pop-)cultural void that has been created. Both the few real spaces that survived as well as archived media that was secured and preserved despite the companies doing their best to prevent it will be more important than ever.

That or the open web collapses and we're all hanging around in Messenger groups with some "Is a real human" vetting process, which is a real possibility even if the AI bubble pops.

I usually love even really dark jokes… but I can assure you, when I was in the hospital for cancer and currently bleeding out of all holes the body has (during the nadir, my thrombocytes were simply gone - and me too without receiving multiple blood donations) I would've not appreciated this in the slightest. Not like I would've had enough strength to complain, but I can see my family throwing fists in this special case. And helping me file a lawsuit.

People in such situations all eventually have a suicidal thought (incl. just rejecting any further treatment, which can be absolute horror). Hope can make the difference between you and your body pushing through or giving up. That asshole isn't helping.

What you describe is being used by now. The permanent eye-tracking got low-level support on Snapdragon SoCs by 2023 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, "Sensing Hub"), the Honor Magic 6 phone advertised itself as able to "open apps by looking at them"; those desperate fucks really tried to sell this as a good thing to users. Though even this article eventually spilled the beans:

"Content Personalization: Adapt news feeds based on the focus and duration of your gaze."

They want you to think this is a good thing, but it's clearly dystopian. And already 3 years old, so by now they certainly found even more ways to make everyone miserable & manipulated.

The Google Assistant famously still listened to the microphone and uploaded data even if you tried to stop it, so I genuinely always recommend everyone to either flash your phone with GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, /e/OS or iodéOS immediately or throw it away. Modern mainline phones are a health hazard.

And when exactly did humanity ever had the power to destroy the planet prior to the industrial revolution?

You're just repeating one of the usual shit arguments climate deniers are spouting daily.

"we"

You mean the rich and powerful who could've solved the systemic environmental issues didn't, who got it told directly all the time. Who could've done something against Exxon and the others. Don't lump the masses together with such assholes.
