I still fail to see your reason why removing the kids' phones is going to solve anything. From my perspective you're working backwards to justify a ban using outdated logic.

My logic is more along the richness of the messaging capabilities; are you aware how ineffective it truly is to have a standardized procedure for a school shooting? It's not just bullets to worry about, it's bombs too, and there's plenty reason to have a device handy to communicate that.

I think the point us more tied to the eol for the ps3 when everyone lost all their digital content, whereas the same player on pc would still have all their titles playable on steam or gog.

That's pretty much all social media's pipeline right now, just take a look at Bluesky and you'll see aside from reporting a post/comment there's no way to downvote/dislike.
